Woodglen celebrates Native American Heritage Month
- Care
- Empower
Every month at Woodglen Elementary we celebrate the Adams 12 Five Star Schools Multi-Cultural Spotlight. In November we highlighted Native American and Indigenous Heritage Month by collaborating with a parent at Woodglen Elementary. Amy Barcenas, and her daughter are enrolled in the Chippewa Cree Tribe and they have found a community here in Colorado. Amy read and recorded the story "Fry Bread" for our students at Woodglen to listen to. Through her story telling, Amy shares some insight into Native American traditions that are still widely practiced today. This beautiful story is not one to be missed! Thank you Amy!
Special thanks to the Woodglen Elementary community for submitting this Five Star Story.
This story exemplifies our ELEVATE Focus Area: 21st Century Learners. Sharing stories of students who collaborate, think critically, problem-solve and are digitally literate to thrive in today’s ever-changing world.
