Hello my name is Alycia Carlton I am so very excited to be Woodglen Elementary's PE teacher. I have been teaching here at Woodglen for 5 years now and I love it each and everyday. I fell in love with the community, staff, and students, so I am very excited to be back! I was born and raised in Colorado and love being outside in the beautiful surroundings. I grew up in the Adams 12 school district. I attended Hillcrest Elementary, Century Middle School, and graduated from Horizon High School. I also graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2014 where I received my bachelor of science in Human Performance & Sports, with a concentration in K-12 Physical Education. I also received a minor in nutrition.
My philosophy for Physical Educations is to give my students the tools and knowledge they will need to make physical activity and fitness a life long choice. I also believe that the best way students learn is by feeling safe being who they are, so I do not just teach skills I like to also teach kindness, understanding, cooperation, and of course enjoy what you as an individual enjoy doing!
I love being outside gardening, playing kickball or volleyball, hiking, or even just walking with my beautiful dog Bobo. I love spending time with my family. I spend my free time volunteering with my father playing volleyball and kickball as a partner for Special Olympics in Lakewood. I have been apart of this amazing program now for nearly 13 years and it is an amazing experience.
