My name is Melissa Black and I am very excited to teach art here at Woodglen again this year! I am a Colorado native and I currently live in the Northglenn area. I graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver in 2009 with a BFA in Art, an emphasis in painting and a concentration in art education. In 2016, I received my Masters degree in Early Childhood Education.
I have been working with kids in various settings for many years and I am happy to have found a permanent home in the artroom. Prior to teaching art at Woodglen, I taught art at Tarver Elementary and prior to that I worked in the before and after school program at a nearby charter school in our district. I have worked within the district for many years and I am familiar with the high standards set, especially within the arts, and I am excited to continue that tradition again this year!
I enjoy painting and creating various types of art, I love to create with my hands, especially clay and paper Mache. I like to explore with new materials and techniques and I’m excited to share my love of art and learning with the Woodglen community.
